NOT READY TO RUSH INTO 2026?

Happy New Year to you and yours. I hope your start to 2026 has been a gentle one. The early days of January can feel heavy, colder, darker, and full of noise about resolutions, reinvention, and year-in-review highlights. It’s a lot to take in all at once, and it’s easy to feel behind before the year has really begun.

From a real estate perspective, this quieter stretch actually makes a lot of sense. Winter has always been a slower, more reflective season for housing. Historically, this was a time to pause, take stock, and focus on what mattered most at home. Even now, January is less about urgency and more about clarity, looking at where you are, what’s working, and what you might want to change when the timing is right.

Rather than rushing into big decisions or firm resolutions, this is a great moment to observe and prepare. Notice what you love about your space and what you don’t. Pay attention to how your home supports your daily life in this slower season. Are you wanting more light, more space? Feeling ready for something different later this year? Craving a change?

For many people, this time of year is about small, grounding routines: getting outside during daylight hours, making the home feel warmer and more functional, organizing, decluttering, or simply settling in. In real estate terms, it’s the early planning phase, thinking quietly about next steps before the market speeds up.

As the days gradually lengthen, plans tend to form naturally. Spring listings, summer moves, downsizing, upsizing, or relocating often start with these winter reflections. There’s no need to rush it. The best decisions usually come from slowing down first.

If this season has you thinking, gently, about a change in the year ahead, I’m always here to talk it through, at whatever pace feels right.

In other news... We went to England & Scotland!

This year, once again, we headed overseas to the country lanes and gentle pace of life in Norfolk, England to see my Dad. Later on we headed up to the Highlands of Scotland where we took a quick trip around a loch or two and ended in Edinburgh to walk the cobbled lanes and admire a city so very different from the one we call home.

After a quick pint in the local pub (St. Vincent Bar aka The Vinnie) we stumbled upon this magical little street, widely considered to be the most picturesque in Edinburgh, and I was transported back in time, just for a moment, to a slower pace of life. Maybe you'll find yourself there one day walking the same cobblestones :)
